Life- long Alaskan resident, Dr. William Luther Emerson, 50, passed away peacefully, on April 23rd, 2021 at his home in Fairbanks, AK after a courageous battle with Kidney Cancer.
William was born in Anchorage, Alaska on August 11, 1970 to James and Karen Emerson. As a child, he attended the Anchorage School District, where he graduated from Bartlett High School Class of 1988. After graduation, Will pursued higher education at Bethel College, in Minneapolis Minn., where he played college hockey for one year before transferring to University of Alaska Anchorage to chase his dream of becoming a Chiropractor. In 1993, Will received acceptance to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa; here he met his lifelong companion, Veronica Latham Emerson. William and Veronica married on September 28, 1996 in Davenport, Iowa. In 1998, Will graduated from Palmer with a Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic. Shortly after he obtained his degree, he returned home to Anchorage, AK with his wife. In 1998, Will passed the Alaska State Chiropractic Exam and began to practice Chiropractic with his father, Dr. James C. Emerson. Subsequently, Will opened his own practice, Emerson Chiropractic, in 2000.
After practicing for several years in Anchorage, Will and his family relocated. In 2009, the family made Fairbanks, AK their home. While in Fairbanks, Will embraced the community entirely, and valued helping people recover from their injuries in a natural manner. (North Country Health Center) In his passion to aid people holistically, Will continued to pursue higher education, ultimately obtaining a PHD in Naturopathy in 2011 from Kingdom College of Natural Health. Will loved Alaska, and especially adored Fairbanks, where he was an active member of the FBX Adult Hockey League. Much of his time in Fairbanks was spent on a hockey rink or a baseball field; when Will was not actively playing himself, he coached his 3 children in youth sports including baseball and hockey as well as coaching other children. He thoroughly enjoyed seeing the kids he coached achieve their goals by refining their skills, year after year.
Will is survived by his wife Veronica, his children: London, Teagan, and Kendall Emerson, his brothers Matthew (Doaa) Emerson and James (Melissa) Emerson, numerous nieces/nephews: Chelsea Emerson, Kaela (Isaac) Ornalez, Sadie (Brandon) Seals, Morgan, Karen Emerson, Zachary Bland, Jace Fesler, and his extended family, dear friends, and the young men/women he coached.
