Peggy Lynn Turner, 71, of Delta Junction, Alaska passed away peacefully on July 15th, 2022 after a seven month battle with Cholangiocarcinoma. All of her family were gathered by her side shortly before her passing.
Peggy was born January 17th, 1951 in Pigeon, Michigan to Roland and Nancy Nast. In 1976, Peggy moved with her husband, Greg Turner, to Alaska. Shortly thereafter Peggy started her long career with the US Forest Service in Juneau, Alaska.
Peggy was a true Alaskan and enjoyed many of the outdoor activities and adventures that Alaska has to offer. In the winter she enjoyed skiing with family and snow machining. In the summer she enjoyed commercial fishing on the family's fishing boats. She enjoyed gardening and growing a variety of vegetables and flowers in her yard and garden. Peggy was an excellent pilot and enjoyed flying with her family to lakes to camp, fish, and relax. She was always involved in her children’s activities and never missed a game or practice, even in the worst of weather. Peggy always welcomed an adventure.
Peggy dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. Watching them grow was her most cherished moments in life. Peggy wouldn’t hesitate to drive 200 miles round trip to watch her grandchildren practice soccer, baseball, and ski race or drive 12 hours to spend a birthday with her grandkids in Skagway, Alaska. Her grandchildren will remember their grandmother as someone who spoiled them with love, kindness, and of course, sugar.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Greg Turner of Delta Junction, Alaska; her eldest son, Zach Turner, and his wife, Mary, along their two children, Lars and Rose of Skagway, Alaska; her daughter, Hilary Turner and her fiancee, Josh Turnbow, along with her grandson, Olin Wilson of Fairbanks, Alaska; her sister, Patti Rogers, of Gagetown, Michigan; and nephews, Matthew Rogers, Justin Rogers, and Nathan Rogers, along with their families.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In memory of Peggy, memorial contributions can be offered to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html
