Maria Chavez Garcia, age 69 of North Pole, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
Maria was born on July 21, 1953 in Jalpa, Mexico. She married Carlos Garcia on August 9, 1971 in Reno, NV. They have lived in Alaska for the past 36 years. She worked in food service for many years. She loved crocheting, watching movies, reading Mexican Novellas, and telling corny jokes. Her family said, “Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.”
Maria is survived by her husband, Carlos of North Pole, daughter, Monica of North Pole, sons; Carlos of Woodland, CAA, Daniel of North Pole, and David of North Pole, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, and 1 brother.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 4PM at Blanchard Family Funeral Home; 611 Noble Street. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Fairbanks Rescue Mission; 723 27th Ave. Fairbanks, where Maria regularly donated to.
