March 13, 2021 9:28 AMDear Carol, Ron and I are in Malaga, WA just 7 miles from our youngest son and two grandchildren in Wenatchee. We get the News-Miner, but several days late. We have learned of Alvin's passing and wanted to send our condolences. I am so sorry he is gone. Of course I remember him as such a wonderful singer and also a very nice gentlemen. I also remember visiting with you both when we would see you in Fairbanks and interested in your travels. That was such a good thing to do. Please accept our sincere healing wishes for your grief and the passage into a different life.

March 11, 2021 10:08 AMMr. Powell was my 6th grade teacher as well (at Pearl Creek), and I remember him as principled and invested in all students. Later on, it was great to see him performing with his barbershop quartet - he was a great musician. My condolences to his family.

February 28, 2021 7:58 PMI have been thinking a lot about Mr. Powell today. I was so sorry to hear about his death. He was my 6th grade teacher and some of my strongest memories of school are from his class. He was a kind man and I was glad to have known him. My condolences to his family.
