Joseph Thomas Notkin was born on April 28, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away unexpectedly July 3, 2018 in Fairbanks, Alaska.
An architect and past president of the Alaska Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, he was a loving brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, partner and friend to many. He had a warm and generous heart, and he leaves behind many friends worldwide.
Joey was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Nathan T. Notkin (1917-2013) and Thelma N. Notkin (!920-2014), and now rejoins them in eternity. He is survived by his older sister, Deborah J. Notkin and husband Van Joyce, brother, Richard T. Notkin and wife Phoebe Toland; son, Peter Notkin and wife Jasmine and their five children, beloved fiancé, Margot Horn; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces, and several cousins. All loved him dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Or HaTzafon Jewish Congregation; 1744 Aurora Drive Fairbanks, AK 99709. A Memorial Service is being organized for family and close friends in Chicago at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to a charity of your choice or to the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools in Joey’s name.
