James A. Vickery, age 90 of North Pole, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at his home.
James was born on May 30, 1928 in Exeter, CA to William and Nellie (Knowlton) Vickery. He was married on December 6, 1951 to Mary Jane Dotson in Tokyo, Japan, where they were both serving in the Army . James served his country honorably in the United States Army for 20 years in the Military Police. He was also employed by the State of Alaska as a Corrections Officer. James loved to fish in Valdez and whenever possible he’d be out there on a boat. He was always creating projects using his excellent woodworking skills. James was a great story teller, especially lots of great stories from his military days in Korea and Vietnam. He was a very loving husband and father.
James is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane Vickery of North Pole and sons, Doug Vickery of North Pole and David Vickery of New Jersey.
