Alzamona Whitworth, age 77 of North Pole, loved so deeply by all had passed away from complications from pneumonia and cancer. She was born in Detroit on the 22nd of November 1940. Alzamona was a wonderful Barber for over 30 years. She was both a member of The Word of Faith in Detroit and sang in the choir before she moved to Alaska in 2010 and then became involved with the Worship Center of North Pole. “To know her, she would direct you to the word of God and had such a contagious laugh that you sometimes had no clue what you were laughing about.”
She is survived by her siblings Vance Whitworth of Los Angeles, CA, David Whitworth of Atlanta, GA, her sister Vicki Hill, brothers-in-law Burt Van Bruggen, Gerald Van Bruggen, Ken Van Bruggen, Neal Van Bruggen and sisters-in-law Kathy Stanfield in Ruskin, FL and Linda Whitworth of North Pole, AK. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and many longtime friends and especially Georgia. Alzamona is preceded in death by her older brother Sam.
Instead of funeral services there will be a Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. on September 1st at the Worship Center in North Pole, 3340 Badger Road. In lieu of flowers her loved ones ask that you donate to the local cancer center in her name.
