Wesley David JenningsAugust 31, 1965 ~ November 21, 2017 (age 52)
Army SSG Wesley David Jennings (Ret)
08/31/1965 to 11/21/2017
Wes was a 20 year Army Veteran living outside Nenana, Alaska. He moved to Alaska from Michigan in 2011, to pursue his dream of living a natural order, in freedom, off the land. He loved the Alaska life and never wanted to leave, as he followed his dreams. He always said 'can't' does not exist, if you want something, go and get it, make no excuses. He died suddenly in a tragic accident on November 21s, 2017, doing what he loved outdoors.
His long Army career included active duty with the 3rd ACR and 2D ID Korea. National Guard service was with 1-126 Armor and 1-126 Cav. The Army was his life and his family and he served with honor and distinction.
He was a lifelong amateur radio operator with a passion for CW (Morse Code), his final call sign was WL7F, founder of KL4SD Skinny Dicks Contest Club. He helped many people climbing many towers over the years. He also spent his free time mentoring and helping his fellow HAM's, usually telling them to operate and learn CW.
He lived each day to its limit and was an exceptionally hardworking and dedicated man. The grumpy man with a heart of gold. He would do anything, for anyone, if they needed his help. He's leaves behind many family and friends who had the pleasure to know him and to love him, he'll be greatly missed. Valhalla gained another warrior, gone way too soon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday December 8, 2017 at 6:00p.m. at Blanchard Family Funeral Home, 611 Noble Street. 482-3232.
