Peter Charles Vredenburgh

September 12, 1956 ~ April 15, 2018 (age 61)

Peter Charles Vredenburgh, age 61, passed away on April 15th, 2018 in his home with family around him.

Peter was born on September 12th, 1956 in a two room doctor’s office in Hancock, NY. Peter’s family growing up consisted of his parents Rodney and Joan Vredenburgh and his siblings consisted of his sister Lucinda and a brother Mark. He grew up in East Branch, NY and his high school years were in Windsor, NY. Peter and his wife Cindy (Leppert) moved to Alaska in July 1982, planning to only stay for three years and ended up staying for the rest of his life. Peter was proud to have raised a son Joshua and a daughter Amy with is wife Cindy.

            Peter’s hobbies were hunting, camping with family and friends, four wheeling and snow machining. One of his favorite hobbies was moose hunting. Peter owned a snowplowing business for over 30 years and was the store manager of CarQuest Auto Parts for 18 years. He was also part owner in the Midnight Sun ATV Tours for three years until his retirement. He was an ASE certified mechanic for over 25 years and he is known for rebuilding carburetors. He enjoyed teaching others about mechanical work and it is also important to note that Peter was a die hard Chevy man.
            He enjoyed the outdoors and would look forward to going on camping trips and on ATV rides during the summer. Peter and his wife Cindy built a cabin on Chena Hot Springs Road in 2008 which they and other friends of the family would spend time at.
            Peter loved people, enjoyed helping others often, was hard working, a jokester, generous, loved to inform and teach others and loved to give people a hard time.
            He is preceded in death by his father Rodney, his mother Joan and his brother Mark Vredenburgh. Peter is survived by his sister Lucinda VanVleck, his wife Cindy of 36 years, his son Joshua and his daughter Amy Vredenburgh.  
            A visitation will be held on Wednesday April 18th, 2018 at Blanchard Family Funeral Home, 611 Noble St, Fairbanks, AK 99701 from 4:00pm to 6:30pm. His ashes will be spread over his favorite hunting grounds this coming summer.
