Nancy Lee Bachner, age 75, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 6, 2018, in Fairbanks. She was born on October 17th, 1942, in Superior, Wisconsin.
Nancy moved to Fairbanks in 1956 to attend the then new Lathrop High School. She married J. Andrew (Andy) Bachner in 1962. Daughter Alice Ann was born in 1964, and son John Allen was born in 1969, both in Fairbanks.
Nancy began working at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1973 and retired as the Director of Conferences and Special Events in 2001.
Nancy was preceded by her parents Bernard and Helga Matchett, and her brother Glen Matchett, and is survived by her children, and her brother Gary Matchett and family.
Nancy was a member of the Pioneers of Alaska Auxillary #8 and the Alaska Yukon Pioneers. A brief service followed by a large gathering of friends at the Boatel Bar will be held sometime around the end of May. A notice with the precise dates and times will be published in the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner a few weeks prior.
