David Lewis McCalebFebruary 10, 1938 ~ January 15, 2018 (age 79)
David Lewis McCaleb was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on Feb. 10, 1938, and arrived in Alaska in 1955. He died in Fairbanks on Jan. 15, 2018.
David said a week before his death, "I don't believe that a statement of what you've done is a true account of a person's life. A true account is a reflection of what a person leaves behind. Be that as it may, I feel my contribution to the world is that I, along with Barbara, who I married May 15, 1961, at Immaculate Conception Church, with her kindness and help, raised a family of eight; all successful in their own right, all with a degree from University of Alaska Fairbanks. Thanks to family, life has been a great ride. And if I have offended anyone, I ask their forgiveness."
Surviving are his wife, Barbara, and children, Chris and Pete Terzi, Tracy and Mike Boyajian, Lori McCaleb, Lin and Malcolm Goepfert, Patrick McCaleb, Janet and David Gamelin, Frances and Mark Jurek, Murphy and Clare McCaleb.
Rosary service will be at 2 p.m., followed by Mass at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Immaculate Conception Church in Fairbanks. The family suggests that you donate to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
